Perla de la Rosa wins the Juan Ruiz de Alarcón National Playwriting Award 2022

#SecretaríaDeCultura.- The Ministry of Culture of the Government of Mexico and the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (Inbal), through the National Coordination of Literature (CNL), in conjunction with the Government of the State of Guerrero, through its Ministry of Culture, announced Perla de la Rosa as the winner of the 2022 Juan Ruiz de Alarcón National Playwriting Award, in recognition of her distinguished theatrical career.

According to the jury’s minutes, signed by playwrights Gabriela Ynclán and Virginia Hernández, as well as critic and researcher Rodolfo Obregón Rodríguez, the award was granted to «who has maintained a life trajectory dedicated to developing a dramaturgy applied to the stage of Mexico’s northern border».

Within the framework of the «Contigo en la distancia» program of the Ministry of Culture, which for the second consecutive year hosted the Juan Ruiz de Alarcón National Playwriting Award virtually, the specialists indicated that Perla de la Rosa’s creative voice is risky and necessary thanks to the vision and sensitivity that the stage creator brings to the social fabric from the artistic field. «With more than 40 years of uninterrupted work, her career is relevant, outstanding, pertinent and congruent with her time, building a solid life project from the trenches of theater».
